Introduction

Emily DuBois Hoysradt led an active life, devoted to art, learning, and participation in several community organizations. Unlike most women in the early 1900s, Emily never married. In the DuBois Family Genealogy, Emily is listed as an “artist of renown in the Hudson Valley and New York City.” Her works are featured in the collections of Historic Huguenot Street, the Haviland-Heidgerd Historical Collection at the Elting Memorial Library, and the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz.
